About Us
In May of 1996, with a handful of volunteers, we set about the task of building this association. One year later on May of 1997, The Equipment and Engine Training Council was introduced. More than 100 industry professionals attended the first formal meeting of the EETC in Dallas. Today the EETC has over 450 members, including manufacturers, distributors, dealers, educational institutions, and associations.
Since then, over seven thousand technicians have taken the industry-sanctioned EETC technician certification test given year-round across the United States. Tests in 2-cycle engines, 4-cycle engines, drivelines/hydraulics/hydrostatic, electrical systems, compact diesel engines, generators, and Reel Technology have been developed and maintained by volunteer members of the EETC.
The EETC school accreditation program for power equipment was finalized and distributed in 1999. This multilevel accreditation standards program was created by the EETC Education Committee to improve the quality and consistency of training offered at the high-school, vocational school and college levels. Through the use of industry developed standards, the graduating student will truly be prepared to enter the outdoor power equipment industry with the skills and values desired by employers.
The future of our history has not been written, but it will include new ways to reach out to young students, continued development of the certification tests for our industry, and curriculum standards that are the benchmark of excellence.
Ensuring customer satisfaction and service support in today’s marketplace is no easy task. With the advent of “Mr. Goodwrench” and ASE certification, customers are seeking assurance with all their service needs. EETC Technician Certification meets these goals and gives dealers the advantage of providing customers with professional product support.
The certification tests are based on industry standards and developed by the EETC Certification Committees whose members include manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and instructors. Updated annually, the tests guarantee that the latest in product designs and innovations will be included.
Tests are administered by the Outdoor Power Equipment and Engine Service Association (OPEESA) in an exclusive arrangement with EETC. There are hundreds of testing locations available to choose from. Visit the OPEESA web site at - www.opeesa.com.
EETC School Accreditation Program
Over sixty high school, technical schools, and colleges have attained accreditation through the EETC School Accreditation Program since it was started in 1997. These schools have many advantages. They graduate technicians ready for certification. Subsequently, these certified technicians will be recruited heavily by the top leaders in the industry with possibilities for advancement.
Our EETC 2008 Conference is set for April 17-19, 2008 in Orlando, FLand we are very excited to be seeing all of you again.
